We are proud to announce that during the reveal of the 2018 Technovation* semi-finalists, three Niagara teams debuted on the list! The semi-finalist list includes 23 teams from across Canada placing in the Senior and Junior Division, three of the ten Junior teams from Canada are from the District School Board of Niagara and part of the Niagara Chapter cohort, supported by ihub.
The teams that advanced to the semifinals are:
The Pine Grove Coders from Pine Grove with their app GenConnect
Radioactive Coders from McKay with their app, H.H.N. Homeless Help Niagara (pictured)
Budget Birdie from DSBN Academy with their app, Budget Birdie
For the semi-final round of the Challenge, teams will have their submissions judged online and the results will be announced in mid-June. Technovation Finalists will have the opportunity to travel to the World Pitch Event in Silicon Valley this August to compete for the grand prize of $10,000 (Junior Division).

*The Technovation Challenge is a 12-week program aimed at encouraging girls in grades 4-12 to explore technology entrepreneurship. Using coding as an entry point, students are challenged to develop a mobile app that solves a problem in their community.
